January Updates

Wow, it sure has been awhile! Can you believe 2016 is already here? We’ve got a lot of goals here at the library this year, and a lot that involve updating our space even more. Check out our newsletter below for some info!

After we did the painting in the library, we thought it was time to update some other aspects as well! We have ordered new carpet which some of our patrons have given us their opinion on and we hope to have it laid sometime in February.

We are also having a new circulation desk built up to our customization. We will be taking out the bookcase that shelves our DVDs (these will be moved) and we will have a shorter circulation desk that wraps from that wall almost around to the divide by our office. This will allow patrons to set their books on our desk without having to lift their bags up to reach our desk. We feel this will be great for our older patrons and those in wheelchairs. It will also allow us to have both of our checkout computers in the front so that two of our staff can help checkout at the same time!

We also want to thank everyone for their support over the Holiday’s and at our Christmas Homes Tour. Our event was a complete success and we couldn’t have done it without you or the community support. We also want to thank those who donated to our Donate-a-Book Tree, all of the books are marked with a star sticker and are on the memorial shelf upstairs.

We hope you’re having a great new year!

October News:

Thanks so much to everyone who attended our Quilt Show and book sale this year! We had a great time and saw so many amazing quilts! You can view a full album of our photos taken at the event by clicking here! We sold most of our books and raised a lot of money for the library!

Also a big THANK YOU to all the kids and parents who came out to the Halloween Safe Walk! We dressed up as the stereotypical librarians (those who know us know we are NOT! hah!) and won 2nd place in the costume contest! We had so much fun seeing all the kids’ costumes.

Thanks so much to all our families, kids, and community businesses who made the 2015 summer reading program a success! We are extremely grateful for all your donations and participation in our events. We had a blast this summer being superheroes with all of you and we can’t wait to see what next summer has in store.

Meanwhile, we are excited to jump back into the school year with our Friday Story Hour starting up the first Friday in September at 10AM. Story time is open to all kids and families who can attend and lasts about 30 minutes to an hour.

We are also starting to prepare for our Quilt Show and book sale during Columbus Day Weekend which will take place Thursday, October 8th to Saturday, October 10th. We will be raffling off a hand-made quilt in the coming weeks and will be accepting quilts for show sometime in late September. We will keep you updated.

We also have large amounts of regular print, large print, nonfiction, and audiobooks that are ready for the book sale! Prices have yet to be determined, but books will be displayed near the desk at the library. There is bound to be something for everyone, The book sale will take place alongside the Quilt Show.

Reminder that our book club is open to everyone in the community. If you’d like to join, please visit us at the front desk to sign up so that we can order a book in for you to read. Book Club Meetings are held every last Tuesday of the month at 6:30PM and last 1-2 hours. Make sure to have your book read by the meeting!

July Updates & Releases

We’re halfway through the summer, only a few more weeks and the kids will be back at school. Make sure they have just a little bit more fun by visiting us for our last summer reading events this month! summer_program_july july_program_young

We’ve also received a few of our books for July that we are super excited about, along with new movies!

New Computer Rules

The computers are officially updated and include new logins for patrons and guests to use. If you’re wanting to use the computer and you are a guest, please talk to a librarian about login information. If you are a patron, you will need to get a login and password information from the librarian as well, but can then use the computers on your own daily.

Patrons and guests will have 1 hour time limit each day and the computer will automatically track the time and will give patrons a 5 minute warning before it logs off. Patrons can request additional time on the computer if they are completing applications or school work, they must ask the librarian to add additional time if they desire.

The two computers in the teen section are currently under maintenance and we hope to have those replaced and ready to go soon, until then the two computers near the desk and the laptops are the only usable computers.
