2015 is quickly coming to a close. We’ve had a lot going on over the past few months that we thought we should update you on and some great events coming up in the future! Also be sure to come to the library and check out all the new artwork created by E. John Smittle and Sarah Smittle, there are some beautiful works currently showing! Here is our newsletter for November, our upcoming events include:
November 19th : Paddle Party for the Library
November 26-28th: Closed for Thanksgiving
December 2nd: Christmas Parade
December 6th: Christmas Homes Tour
Thanks so much to everyone who attended our Quilt Show and book sale this year! We had a great time and saw so many amazing quilts! You can view a full album of our photos taken at the event by clicking here! We sold most of our books and raised a lot of money for the library!
Also a big THANK YOU to all the kids and parents who came out to the Halloween Safe Walk! We dressed up as the stereotypical librarians (those who know us know we are NOT! hah!) and won 2nd place in the costume contest! We had so much fun seeing all the kids’ costumes.
This year is flying by, don’t you think! It has been so quiet around here while the kids are at school but we’re happy to see you all at Storytime on Fridays! Remember that all kids and families are welcome if they are not in school, open to all ages!
October is a pretty busy month for us as we will be having both our Book Sale and our Quilt Show! Check out the flyers below for more information on those events. We expect to see you all there! You can get Quilt Show Raffle tickets at the front desk of the library now or at the Quilt Show.
Let us know if you have any questions or give us a call!
Thanks so much to all our families, kids, and community businesses who made the 2015 summer reading program a success! We are extremely grateful for all your donations and participation in our events. We had a blast this summer being superheroes with all of you and we can’t wait to see what next summer has in store.
Meanwhile, we are excited to jump back into the school year with our Friday Story Hour starting up the first Friday in September at 10AM. Story time is open to all kids and families who can attend and lasts about 30 minutes to an hour.
We are also starting to prepare for our Quilt Show and book sale during Columbus Day Weekend which will take place Thursday, October 8th to Saturday, October 10th. We will be raffling off a hand-made quilt in the coming weeks and will be accepting quilts for show sometime in late September. We will keep you updated.
We also have large amounts of regular print, large print, nonfiction, and audiobooks that are ready for the book sale! Prices have yet to be determined, but books will be displayed near the desk at the library. There is bound to be something for everyone, The book sale will take place alongside the Quilt Show.
Reminder that our book club is open to everyone in the community. If you’d like to join, please visit us at the front desk to sign up so that we can order a book in for you to read. Book Club Meetings are held every last Tuesday of the month at 6:30PM and last 1-2 hours. Make sure to have your book read by the meeting!
We’re halfway through the summer, only a few more weeks and the kids will be back at school. Make sure they have just a little bit more fun by visiting us for our last summer reading events this month!
We’ve also received a few of our books for July that we are super excited about, along with new movies!
New Computer Rules
The computers are officially updated and include new logins for patrons and guests to use. If you’re wanting to use the computer and you are a guest, please talk to a librarian about login information. If you are a patron, you will need to get a login and password information from the librarian as well, but can then use the computers on your own daily.
Patrons and guests will have 1 hour time limit each day and the computer will automatically track the time and will give patrons a 5 minute warning before it logs off. Patrons can request additional time on the computer if they are completing applications or school work, they must ask the librarian to add additional time if they desire.
The two computers in the teen section are currently under maintenance and we hope to have those replaced and ready to go soon, until then the two computers near the desk and the laptops are the only usable computers.
First, THANK YOU to everyone who came to our book signing on the 23rd. We had a great turnout and a ton of fun. We are currently still selling Courtney Stultz’s cookbooks at the front desk for $15 if you missed the signing and are interested in purchasing the book. We would love to host another one of these events again.
Below are a few books that we’ve received at the end of this month as well as Kayla’s pick for June. We have been having a BLAST at summer reading this year and we are excited to wrap up June with 2 more programs and then head to July!
The Library will be CLOSED on July 3rd and 4th for the Holiday!
We are currently battling our two computers located in our YA section, we are hoping to have someone fix the computers by the end of the month, but until then, they will be out of service.
We also recently updated our system and have a new way to track times and sign ins. Patrons will now need to sign into the computers with a specific number and password and will be given 60 minutes per day. The staff can keep track of times on our main computer and a warning will pop up on the screen (the patron is using) when the patron has 5 minutes left of their time. If a patron needs more time for work, they may request one of the librarians to add more time. All patrons will need to visit the front desk to get their sign in information through their library card. If a patron does not have a card, they will be given a guest login.
If you have overdue materials or fines that haven’t been paid you will not be allowed to use the computer.
